I started the vault of glass today, with a group of random players I ran into at the tower. We opened the vault, and got most of the way through boss 2 before having to call it a night. Took us about 3 hours total, and ended up with a couple pieces of raid gear and some ascendant mats.
We are doing a blind run, without looking up how to do anything, and I can't remember the last time I had so much fun gaming.
If anyone wants any advice on some of the early parts of the raid, feel free to hit me up!
Also, anyone got any good vault of glass stories?

I was piddling about in the tower last night and received a random invite. I don't normally respond to random invites, but lately the game has been telling me that I'm going to need to make some friends. I accepted and ended up in a fireteam of six. The question was posed, "You wanna try the vault of glass?" I responded with a resounding "Absolutely!", also warning them that I'll likely be dead weight because I'm only level 25. They were cool.
Anyway, we start it up and it appears they're already part way through. The leader gave us a brief rundown on how to deal with this "Templar" guy. Typically, I'm not a fan of starting halfway through something that I haven't done before, but I forgot all about that after a couple minutes of trying to fight this thing. We died and we died and we continued to die. I will say, that after 4 or 5 good wipes, we were starting to get a handle on it. We managed to get the thing down to having only an eighth or so of his life bar left, but unfortunately we were overwhelmed by minotaurs.
After about three hours of this, a couple of guys had to hit the sack. We disbanded, but not before adding each other as friends. It was extremely fun, very challenging, but ultimately unsuccessful. Either way, knowledge was gained, friends were made, and I now have a better idea of what I need to do with my character in order to be more successful next time.

Thats the joy of the vault! That same story seems to be shared by a lot of people. Btw, it seems the templar boss has a timer. I think it's about 7 minutes. Once you hit that point he goes into a state called enrage, and spas Minotaur at you. Once that happens he becomes next to impossible to beat unless you have him almost dead , so basically you have to beat him within the 7 minute timer.

Lol and people wonder why bungie didn't put matchmaking in for raids.
Can you image the calls for Nerf in the forums if people approached raids like they do strikes?

That's exactly what happened, Gryff. Also there is no way any matchmaking team could rock the VOG. We had to wipe a lot of times just to get a handle on it. You've got to have people communicating. There's no exception.
EDIT: They should never ... EVER.. nerf the Raids.
