So there is a theory floating around at the moment, that the guardians are getting the wrong end of the stick in destiny, and the traveller is actually the evil in the equation.
The idea is that the "darkness" is an alliance of the remnants of societies the traveller has previously ruined/destroyed, and are following the traveller, trying to stop its reign of destruction at any cost. The guardians are the twisted result of the Traveller's foul necromancy, and both it's method of control over the worlds it subverts, and it's defence against those who would stop it.
Thoughts? How would you feel if it turned out you were serving the ultimate evil?
Personally I don't think it is likely in an mmo game, because it would mean the players who had discovered the truth would still be coexisting with those who hadn't finished the story yet.
Cool concept though, and it makes you realise just how much depth this world Bungie have created can have.
